Overall, Nordic monetary policy is seen tightening this year compared to last year. According to the OECD, the 2012 poverty rates for Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland stood at 9 percent, 5.4 percent, 8.1 percent and 6.5 percent respectively. At the other end of the spectrum, Mexico had the highest poverty rate at 18.9 percent.

There is an evident advantage of Switzerland in relation to the Scandinavian countries, despite the fact that it is capitalist and they are socialist countries. The unemployment rate is only 4.5% and is one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. The poverty rate is also low. Predictably, the world's highest unemployment rates exist in Sub-Saharan Africa and in a brutal warzone in occupied Palestine. Lesotho, encircled by South Africa, had the highest unemployment in the world in 2018. It's also one of the poorest countries. The World Bank estimated its GDP per capita at only $1,324 in 2018. The Scandinavian country’s unemployment rate sits at an incredibly low 4.3 per cent and as ideal as that sounds, the situation is actually creating problems for Denmark’s future economic growth. Marginal corporate tax rates in Scandinavian countries are around the OECD average of 25 percent and much more competitive than the United States’ rate. Denmark’s corporate income tax rate is 24.5 percent, Norway’s general corporate income tax rate is 27 percent, and Sweden has a corporate tax rate of 22 percent.

By contrast, Finland and. Sweden have high unemployment and considerably lower employment levels also in a broader international perspective. Norway falls

I am a Dane, but lived in Stockholm 2003-2008. I now live in Copenhagen. I think crime levels are more or less the same. I think salaries may be higher in Denmark than in Sweden, but cost of living is probably also higher in Denmark. When I lived Switzerland’s unemployment rate is just 4.5 percent, which is one of the lowest rates in the world. The country’s poverty rate is similarly low (XLS). Those who immigrate to Switzerland have an average employment rate of 76 percent, which is much higher than the European average of 62 percent. Good answers all, but one more point. All of Scandinavia have mostly been smart enough to not kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
